VOLUNTEERING
Orphans hope Uganda welcomes volunteers at the Orphanage school at Kyajinja and village in order to help improve the conditions and provide much needed stimulus for the children.
Our volunteer program selects motivated individuals to help out in our community school and village, where we need help. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a sincere inspiration to help those in need in Uganda, especially underprivileged children. The volunteers that come to work with Orphans hope Uganda help in a range of ways. Mainly the volunteers provide relief for the overworked community staff at Kyajinja community school and give much needed attention and love to the children. Most of the time you spend will be directly with the children. All volunteers help by working in the community school as teacher's assistants. We encourage the volunteers who come to plan activities, teach, and play with kids. Occasionally there may also be work available in health care, women’s health, working with disabled children, sport teaching, dance and music, drama teaching, administration, fundraising and many other things.
Note: You should be in reasonably good health due to the extreme heat and conditions of transportation and facilities in Uganda. Please be resourceful because you will not have the same access to materials that you may be accustomed to, especially in the schools. Ability to plan and be self-motivated is important, as you often won’t have direct supervision. It is also important to be flexible and patient, as it may take longer than you expect to accomplish just about anything. |
