Orphans Hope Uganda

Hope Never Runs Dry

PROGRAMS

Educational Sponsorships and Support

Following years of turbulence and the devastation caused by HIV/AIDS, a large number of children have been left orphans with no support from an adult. These children need support to be able to get an education for better life in future.  Most of these children are at risk and vulnerable to all kinds dangers and abuse.  Instead of the children attending school, orphan girls are often forced to serve as domestic servants in homes in order to support themselves.  This makes them vulnerable to some unsuspecting employers who in-turn abuses them sexually and in other ways as well.

The boys are often sent to look after cattle, fish in village swamps, hunt birds and edible wild animals in nearby bushes, and get involved in drugs, sexual activities and traditional practices that completely ruin not only their lives and future prospects but also increase their risk of getting HIV infection as well as turning them into hardcore criminals as they go through adolescence into adulthood.   These children need support to continue schooling and skills training to acquire life skills that will give them practical skills to enable them earn access the job market, earn an honest living and become self-reliant.

Orphans hope Uganda  Holistic Child Support Program seeks to sponsor school age orphans and needy children aged 3-13 in pre-primary and primary Schools and disadvantaged youth aged 14-24 in Secondary schools and/or Vocational Skill Training, until they are equipped with skills to earn an honest living.  With a minimum contribution of $1 day, ($30 a month), you could help provide an education to a needy child, that will bring hope and better future.

Orphans hope Uganda is seeking child sponsors and partners who will each provide sponsorship to an orphan/needy child with a gift of US$1 a day, or $30 per month. Please consider sponsoring a needy child with Orphans for Christ in Africa. Sponsors will also have the opportunity visiting the child/children they support through Orphans hope Ugandas short-term volunteer programs.

Education at Kyajinja community primary school

In January 2006, Orphans hope Uganda established Kyajinja community  primary school .The school  is located at Kyajinja on Bugerere Road, 56 Kilometres from Kampala City, The school is still under the church   building and is currently providing free nursery and primary school education to 120orphans and disadvantaged children in Kyajinja community, who have no financial support to attend school elsewhere.  The school also provides refreshments – porridge and snacks - for the children as part of the school program during school days.  Here Orphans hope Uganda is catering for the most vulnerable disadvantaged children and youth who have completely no support. Kyajinja community school also serves as centre for spiritual nourishment, weekly children’s club and sports activities as well as HIV/AIDS counselling for youth, children, widows and entire community of Kyajinja

Qualified and retired teachers serve as volunteer teachers at the school.  When fully completed, the school will provide education, skill training, healthcare and housing to 200 orphans and disadvantaged children and youth.

  Orphans in Uganda

It’s estimated that in Uganda they are over 2 million orphans due to HIV/AIDS, It is expected that over the next ten years it is likely to double.  Many orphans are children of primary school age; these orphans have lost one or both of their parents. They usually live alone or with one or with their extended family; this means that in every family there is an orphan living with them.

Many children have been and continue to be traumatized by the loss of their parents. In Uganda it’s the order of the day to find grandparents surrounded by a fleet of grandchildren, families headed by adolescents, dying adults being nursed by their children and children scattered among relatives

As result, many people are considered to be living in poverty and most of these people are below the age of eighteen .poverty has a direct effect on peoples lives, as poor people have little access to health services, education, clean water and many other very important things, and these are the major obstacles to child survival, development, protection and participation.

The UN convention on the right of children contains rights relating to every aspect of children’s live s including the right to survival, development, and protection and participation.

Orphans need care, including Feeding, Health and sanitation, Vocational trainings and life skills, Emotional/psychosocial support, counseling, Recreations, Religious support, Scholastic materials, beddings, utensils, transport to health units, a roof over their head and Education, they work as a safety net in the Childs life. With out

Supporting and empowering orphans, in the future they will live as beggars on the streets

In anticipation of this need, I formally reach you and the entire world to respond with definite commitment to becoming our active partner with Orphans hope Uganda in proving leadership, consultation and mobilizing people and possible resources to this growing network.
